Challenger Elementary fifth grade students and teachers will be attending Battle Creek Clear Lake Camp for 5 days this spring, April 7 -11. Clear Lake Camp is an outdoor educational camp located north of Battlecreek Michigan. It is operated by the Battle Creek Public Schools.
We encourage all of our fifth graders to attend. When our fifth grade students leave for middle school, they tell us that camp was one of their most unforgettable elementary experiences. It is a very exciting trip and a time of growth for many of our children.
Clear Lake camp does not utilize parent chaperones. The camp staff does all of the instruction and monitoring during the stay. Challenger teachers participate by assisting with instruction and helping with any social concerns. Students spend the night in gender-designated dorms with a camp counselor on duty throughout the night. A camp nurse is also available during the day, throughout the week. We have had many memorable experiences at Clear Lake Camp and we look forward to another wonderful year.
The total cost for your fifth grader to attend this year will be $218.50 for the 5 day trip. PTO has graciously agreed to sponsor the transportation to and from camp.
PTO will also be offering an opportunity for fundraising specifically to help with the cost of camp. This will be separate from the whole school fundraising and proceeds will be credited to the individual student. Fifty percent of each student’s product sales will be held in their name and credited toward the total camp fee for that student.
The fundraiser is through Goodies Factory. The products include a selection of gourmet delights.The fundraiser will run from 10/15 thru10/29. Payment and order forms are due on 10/29. Product pick-up will be 11/15.
There will be an informational camp meeting for parents this winter to answer questions and share more details about camp.

Challenger Elementary is once again proud to be able to offer a 5th Grade Camp experience for all students who would like to participate.Students will be attending the Battle Creek Clear Lake Camp for 5 days this spring.To familiarize first time parents, Clear Lake Camp is an educational camp, located north of Battle Creek, Michigan.It is an outdoor educational camp associated with the Battle Creek Public Schools.
Our students and 5th grade teachers will attend camp for 5 days and 4 nights the week of April 7-11.Clear Lake does not utilize parent chaperones.The camp staff does all instruction and monitoring during the week, with our teachers participating by assisting with instruction and helping with any social concerns that may arise.Therefore, we understand that parents may have a lot of questions regarding the camp experience.An informational parent meeting is going to be held on the evening of January 29, at 6:00 p.m.This meeting will be held at Hutchings Elementary, located at 3503 Bigelow Rd.The camp coordinator, El East, will be presenting to parents with a variety of information.We encourage parents to attend this meeting and hopefully get your questions answered!The total cost for camp this year is $218.50.Those students who participated in the camp fundraiser this fall will be receiving their new balance for camp at a later date.
